Pacific Gas and Electric Files for Bankruptcy
Pacific Gas and Electric filed for bankruptcy on January 29, 2019 a second time alleging that the wildfires damages are the source of the filing. This is called the first climate bankruptcy filing.
The first PG&E bankruptcy filing was in 2001 and took 4 years to resolve. Judge Montali is the same Judge this time around as well. Ms. Romero was successful in representing numerous creditors and a water agency in the filing of 2001 and recovered a substantial amount of attorneys' fees for her clients.
Bailey and Romero stand ready to assist all creditors in this newly filed bankruptcy, having recently filed their request for notice. Bailey and Romero will continue to assist their clients who have suffered and lost everything in the Paradise and Butte County fire as well as help them through the maze of legal challenges in the PG&E bankruptcy.
